What to Pack for an All-Inclusive Resort: 10 Must-Have Items You’ll Be Glad You Brought
All-inclusive vacations are meant to be easy-breezy, but a little smart packing goes a long way in making your getaway even more stress-free. Whether you’re off to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, or somewhere tropical and fabulous, here are my top 10 must-haves to toss in your suitcase before you hit the beach. (Trust me, future-you will thank you!)
1. Insulated Reusable Cup or Tumbler

Because your margarita deserves to stay cold as long as you do. 🧉 Most resorts serve drinks in small plastic cups, so if you're lounging by the pool for hours, having a bigger, insulated cup keeps you
“hydrated” longer.
2. Refillable Water Bottle
Many resorts are moving away from single-use plastics, and hydration is key in the sun, especially if you’re enjoying a few piña coladas. Some resorts even have filtered water stations around the property instead of small plastic bottles of water.
3. Waterproof Phone Pouch
For floating selfies, poolside scrolling, or reading by the beach without worrying about sand or splash damage. Bonus: Some are touchscreen-friendly, so you can still take that selfie, no problem!
4. A Good Beach Bag
You’ll want something roomy enough for sunscreen, a book, sunglasses, and that towel you keep “borrowing” from the pool. A lightweight, foldable tote or mesh bag is perfect.
5. Multiple Swimsuits
Let’s be real, you’re going to live in your swimsuit. Pack at least two (or five, we don’t judge). It’s always nicer to slip into a dry one while the other is still drying out.
6. A Lightweight Cover-Up or Kimono
Something you can toss over your swimsuit for lunch at the buffet or a stroll through the resort. Stylish and sun-safe.
7. Sunscreen (More Than You Think You’ll Need)
Tropical sun is no joke. Bring reef-safe sunscreen if you’ll be swimming in the ocean, and pack extra, resort shops charge a small fortune for it.
8. Bug Spray or Wipes
Especially for tropical destinations in the evening. The mosquitos come out for dinner too, and you don’t want to be on their menu.
9. A Few First Aid & “Just in Case” Items
Think: pain relievers, after-sun lotion, allergy meds, band-aids, and tummy meds (you know the ones). It's better to have them and not need them than the other way around.

10. Small Bills for Tipping
Even at an all-inclusive, tipping is always appreciated. Bring some local currency for your favorite bartender, waiter, housekeeper, or the bellhop who hauls your overpacked suitcase.

Optional but Awesome:
A sweater for air-conditioned restaurants in the evenings
A floatie for lazy pool lounging
Towel clips because no one wants to play tug-of-war with their beach towel every time the wind picks up
💼 Bottom line: You don’t need to pack your entire closet, but a few thoughtful items can turn your all-inclusive trip into an effortlessly relaxing experience.
